The Australian division of ESEA MDL Season 29 has been brought to an end, with Grayhound claiming the victory in the grand final over Chiefs (9-16 Inferno, 16-6 Dust2, 16-6 Nuke).
After a period in which Oceania's top four was clearly defined, things were shaken up ahead of this season of ESEA MDL as two of the region's best players, Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai and Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas, left for Renegades, and a number of different roster changes happened.
The regular season concluded with the usual suspects taking the top four spots; ORDER, Tainted Minds, Grayhound and Chiefs, but the first leg of the playoffs brought a big upset as Paradox eliminated ORDER—despite Jordan "Hatz" Bajic having a +41 KDD, 1.51 rated series.
In the semi-finals, Karlo "USTILO" Pivac's new team Tainted Minds was close to taking the 2-0 victory, but Grayhound fought back and won the series 2-1, while Chiefs took down Paradox convincingly, 2-0.
The grand final kicked off on Inferno where Tyler "tucks" Reilly, who returned to the Chiefs roster after a short stint with Tainted Minds, was the best player for his team and helped them take the victory after a 9-6 Terrorist half. However, both Dust2 and Nuke were one-sided affairs that ended 16-6, with Christopher "dexter" Nong's standout, +35 KDD performance for the series helping Grayhound seal the deal.
